Employee Assistance Professionals Association

Presidents Corner

Jill Fulton

President 2010-2012

I would like to thank everyone in the Northern Ohio Chapter of Employee Assistance Professionals for giving me the opportunity to serve as Board President for the next two years. I feel very humbled and excited to have this opportunity to serve. I want to thank the outgoing President, Jim Corrigan, for serving the last two years. Jim did an outstanding job, and I am grateful for the leadership he has demonstrated and the support he has offered during my transition from Vice President to this new role. I am looking forward to working with the new NOC-EAPA chapter board: Kathy Springer, Vice President; Lynda Dismuke, Secretary; and, Kim Russell, Treasurer. I look forward to the opportunity to serve with a board of professional, committed people who are full of fresh ideas.

As we move ahead, we are seeing many more changes in our profession that will impact the climate for EAP professionals. On the national arena we have Mental Health Parity and Healthcare reform. These two important pieces of legislation will certainly affect our positions and will provide our chapter an opportunity to grow and expand our EAP programs and services. I am hopeful we will continue to stay informed of the ongoing changes and implement strategies to promote the EAP profession within our communities.

We will look forward to building upon the current achievements the NOC-EAPA chapter has accomplished. We continue to build upon programs to enhance our professional growth while staying on top of the changes in our workplaces.

We will continue to expand the vision and membership of our organization and encourage active participation from our current members, asking they become engaged in our committees. One membership initiative includes actively seeking out professionals from the EAP, mental health, and chemical dependency counselors in the community, who are not currently involved in NOC-EAPA, to join us at monthly meetings and become active members of the organization. We look forward to networking and developing partnerships with other organizations to elevate the awareness of our profession and chapter.

I look forward to making this a successful and productive two years with your support.

Regards,
Jill Fulton, LISW-S, LICDC

President, NOC-EAPA
