Title: Insights into Gambling Disorder
Description: With the release of the 2022 Ohio Gambling Survey, we know that an estimated 1,806,492 adult residents in Ohio can be categorized as low-risk, moderate-risk, or problem gamblers (or 19.8% of the general adult population). We also know that gambling disorder is often under-identified and under-screened for in clinical assessments, and individuals struggling with a gambling disorder have many barriers to avoid seeking help. The goal of this presentation is to educate helping professionals about the prevalence of gambling disorder, assist them in learning how to screen for and identify DSM-5 criteria, and provide education on what resources are available and what the referral process is like.
Objectives:
1. Identify DSM-5 criteria for F63.0 Gambling Disorder (25 minutes, 9:00 am – 9:25 am)
2. Identify the warning signs & symptoms of Gambling Disorder & highlight the comorbidity with substance abuse (30 minutes, 9:25 am – 9:55 am)
3. Review the 2022 Prevalence Data for Ohio (30 minutes, 9:55 am – 10:25 am)
